There is much debate in the editing industry about the value of assigning a level of complexity to a text that needs revision. This type of assessment is a subjective and intuitive process for each editor. When I test a sample of your material to design a fair quote, I estimate the amount of time and effort required to address the degree and frequency of errors that I expect to encounter during the editing process. Then I define each project as a 'heavy, medium, or light' edit.
The following descriptions provide a high-level overview of how I try to objectively define these three categories:
